Building rural futures through sustainable agriculture.
AltowGro is committed to advancing rural development through sustainable agricultural practices. The organization recognizes that lasting prosperity for agricultural communities extends beyond basic subsistence farming. There is a clear need for robust, science-driven, climate-adaptive, market-focused, and inclusive agricultural enterprises, particularly within rural regions across Africa.
From purpose to practice
AltowGro's programmes translate its purpose into practical work on the ground: stronger farmer enterprises, applied research and technology transfer, youth and women participation, climate resilience, and pathways to more productive rural livelihoods.

Flagship Collaboration
University of California, Davis & AltowGro Foundation.
Technical and institutional discussions are underway with the University of California, Davis toward a proposed Science Hub in Kenya's Mt. Elgon region.
The proposed Hub is envisioned as a field-based platform where research, demonstration, farmer training, innovation, technology transfer and community learning can come together — connecting global expertise with local farming realities to support climate-resilient agriculture and rural transformation.
AltowGro is advancing a proposed Science Hub in Kenya's Mt. Elgon region, with technical and institutional discussions underway with UC Davis.
AltowGro is establishing Kenya's Mt. Elgon region as the first field anchor for its Science Hub and wider farmer-capacity platform.
This is not a concept built from a distance. It is a working platform designed to improve how rural communities access technical knowledge, field demonstration, climate-resilient production methods, enterprise skills, and market-aware agricultural practice.
For farming communities, the value is intended to be practical and measurable: stronger farmer capability, better crop and land management, structured training for youth and women, greater exposure to science and technology, and clearer pathways from agricultural skills into income-generating enterprise.
Kenya is the starting point. The ambition is to build, test, document, and strengthen a field model with the discipline, evidence, and regional relevance to support more productive, resilient, and commercially capable rural communities across East Africa.
AltowGro Foundation welcomes aligned foundations, universities, philanthropic institutions, technical partners and development organisations seeking to support practical agricultural transformation in East Africa.
Partnership support helps strengthen the practical foundations required for field-based work: programme planning, technical coordination, farmer training, demonstration activity, youth and women's enterprise, climate-resilient agriculture, and the development pathway for the proposed Science Hub.
At its core, AltowGro is about growing value — in land, crops, knowledge, technology, people and markets — and using that value to transform lives.
AltowGro Foundation envisions thriving rural communities across East Africa where agriculture is productive, profitable, inclusive, and climate-resilient. That vision is built through practical work on the ground, strong partnerships, and a commitment to the communities at the centre of it all.
